I don't know what the Himalayan Kittens are are about but this is a quick list

an amazing travel resource. I am awful at geography this site helps me.
The University of
Virginia Electronic Text Library is a good resource that provides texts
of a variety of kind in English, German, French, Japanese and Latin.
Yawn, you might need a coffee here.
Plumb
Design Visual Thesaurus is a visual experience of language of a kind
unique and open to a host of serendipitous discoveries that cannot be charted
easily. It's weird and I'm not sure what the point really is.
The
On-Line English Grammar is an interesting site to discover everything
you ever wanted to know about the structure of the language we use as writers.
OneLook Dictionaries is a central site
for exploring words in a variety of languages via an interface that links you
with a variety of dictionaries throughout the internet.
In the category of
reference homepages you can explore in the
Marriam Webster Language Center that links to a variety of resources
including the Webster Dictionary, the American English Dictionary and Roget's
Thesaurus on line and
a List of
Dictionaries where you'll find German to English dictionaries and much
more. You can download and view detailed maps from around the world thanks to
the PCL Map Collection Also useful are the links of

catalogs the resources for linguistic study and learning on the web
Garbl's Writing Resources On-Line
is a quite useful compendium of 'English language, grammar, style, writing,
usage' and much more. Well worth a look. I think there is some valuable writing
stuff here but so 'garbled' with political crap I felt stifled.
William Strunk's classic
Elements of
Style as well as John Bartlett's also classic
Familiar
Quotations are both available on the Web thanks to Columbia
University's
Project Bartleby . Great site - use it often.
Altavista's Babelfish
site provides the opportunity to translate from one language to another. This is
not perfect, but might give some beginning options. If nothing else it can be a
hilarious exercise to translate from one language to another and back to the
original again and see the results. Cool deal!
The FBI Freedom of Information Site is a
wealth of information about criminals and more and links to other sites of
diverse content. Whether you are interested in Al Capone or fingerprinting or
what have you, this is one place to possibly look.
AllReaders.com is a web site that
allows for look up of books and their authors by searching on plot lines and
other elements. This might prove useful if you are seeking a particular author
or book.
Britannica.com is the revamped
online presence of Britannica Encyclopedia. Hands down this is far and away the
best encyclopedia on the planet and their web site is a huge comprehensive
center for research and exploration. From Arts to the World, the subject area
are comprehensive, interesting and fun to explore. This is a must have site!
The Burry Man is a resource for
writers that cover a diverse number of areas. Well worth a look.
The Classics Archive
has an archive of hundreds of translated Classic texts including the Aenid, the
Odyssey and others.
C/NET's Search.com is an
impressive archive of search resources on the internet.
CybRpunk is a page
devoted to the Cyperpunk genre.
Literary Kicks
is self explanatory and also was a GNN Best of the Web nominee some years back.
If you want to find out about Jack Kerovac, Allen Ginsberg and the whole beat
phenomena, this is the place to go. Its worth going just for its own sake
